Cabinet Asserts Its Authority In Sand Issue
Friday 15th June, 2018-Cabinet has reminded the Barbuda Council who is in charge of managing the country’s affairs by directing the Council to continue providing sand to the Central Government.
The alleged refusal of the Barbuda Council to conduct business with the government in the acquisition of sand has resulted in the aggregate being purchased from neighbouring Montserrat.
Government says the Crown, through the Cabinet, exercises control over land in the unitary state of Antigua and Barbuda despite what many may believe.
Government’s Chief of Staff opined that the BPM controlled Barbuda Council is politicizing the procurement of sand from the sister isle.
