Barbudan MP Says Residents Are Resilient
Thursday 6th September, 2018 –Barbudan Member of Parliament Trevor Walker is reflecting on the passage of Hurricane Irma one year ago.
In an address on the Barbuda Channel marking the anniversary, Walker described September 6th 2017 as “A terrifying night,” and a “challenging year in the history of Barbuda.”
He said despite the trauma Barbudans experienced, they have remained a resilient people. He expressed appreciation to Antiguans who opened their doors and accepted residents from the sister isle.
But during his reflection, Trevor Walker noted that when Barbudans thought they would have been allowed to returned, they were kept out.
Walker added that one year on, Barbudans are moving forward as a people and he has called for citizens and residents there to press on.
