Barbuda Runway Project to Move Ahead
Monday 4th March, 2019-Government is not anticipating any further delays in the construction of the new runway in Barbuda.
A new projection is the Barbuda runway is likely to be completed before the end of 2019 by BHM Construction and Engineering after work came to a halt in 2018, following an injunction filed by members of the Barbuda People’s Movement (BPM). Added to that were reports of damaged machines and employees moving on to other jobs that added to the delay.
Cabinet spokesman, Information Minister Melford Nicholas, says assurances were given that the project will move ahead.
BHM Construction and Engineering is the company that is also leading the development of Friars Hill Road and Sir George Walter Highway. While there is also guarantee that work will continue at a steady pace, the supply of aggregates for multiple projects is being discussed.
