Bail Granted to Man Who Assaulted Police
Wednesday 30th May, 2018 – The man accused of assaulting a police officer at Immigration Headquarters on Monday was granted bail when he appeared in court today.
Stanley Purcell was placed on $60,000 with a cash component of $ 6,000.
His bail conditions include reporting four times a week to the All Saints Magistrate Court. He will return to court on 19th July, 2018.
Purcell is charged with battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, using threatening language, using threatening language and malicious damage.
Corporal Colin Samuel was reportedly beaten by Stanley Purcell after the accused was asked to leave the premises due to his disorderly conduct. He was at the time accompanying a female Jamaican national who was seeking the services of the department.
The police officer reportedly sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital where he was reportedly treated and sent away.
Purcell was subsequently arrested and now faces multiple charges.
He is represented by Attorney Warren Cassell.
