Several industrial officers attached to the Antigua Trades and Labour Union (AT&LU) have completed a training programme initiated by the union as part of efforts to upskill its officers.
On Monday, the union held a brief ceremony to celebrate the academic achievements of the Industrial Relation Officers who successfully completed the courses.
The course of study followed arrangements between the AT&LU and the University of the West Indies Global Campus and the Cipriani College of Labour and Co-Operative Studies and marked the successful completion of the first phase of a scholarship initiative launched by the union.
Congratulations and best wishes to Jarmin Pryce-Miller – AT&LU Industrial Relation Officer, Kerry Dyer – AT&LU Industrial Relation Officer, Khadijah Miller – Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium and Gameel Phillips – Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium.
AT&LU President Bernard DeNully told the officers that the training is geared at improving their overall training and to prepare them to be able to successfully navigate the varied issues that will confront them as industrial relations officers.
In his remarks, General Secretary, Alrick Daniel emphasised the union’s role in providing education to its members. He said this has been a longstanding concern of the union going back decades to its early years as a trade union.
He gave a commitment that providing educational opportunities to its officers will continue to be a priority of the AT&LU.
