On Saturday, the Antigua and Barbuda Trades & Labour Union made a very important donation to the Sunshine Home for Girls located in Johnson’s Point. The Trade Union presented the Sunshine Home with a fully equipped toolbox. The toolbox contained the basic tools necessary for daily, on property, maintenance and repairs.
Major Violet Ezech, on behalf of the Sunshine Home, expressed her appreciation for the donation of the toolbox. She also indicated her desire for a continued positive relationship between the AT&LU and the Sunshine Home for Girls.
The AT&LU has also committed to facilitating a training session on the proper usage of the tools provided, as well as other basic home tools.
Deputy General Secretary Avelyn Watley made the presentation on behalf of the AT&LU.
The AT&LU entered into a partnership with the Sunshine Home for Girls earlier this year. On 8th March 2025, International Women’s Day, the AT&LU held a presentation for the residents of the Sunshine Home for Girls. The presentation focused on topics such as: becoming a professional woman, the rights of workers and gender-based violence and harassment at work.
