The Department of Environment successfully celebrated Arbor Day 2025 with island-wide activities promoting environmental awareness, sustainability, and youth engagement.

As part of this year’s celebrations, schools across Antigua and Barbuda received plants, plant bags, and healthy snacks, encouraging students to participate actively in conservation and home gardening.

In total, 25,000 plants were distributed, including 15,000 assorted fruit plants, 2,000 coconut trees, and additional varieties such as apple, grape, and citrus seedlings.

The event was attended by Junior Minister in the Ministry of Health, Senator Michael Joseph, who toured the displays, interacted with students, and participated in photo sessions with the children.

Students also visited educational stalls showcasing the work of the Plant Protection Unit, the Beekeeping Initiative, and the Solar Energy Exhibit, each demonstrating sustainable practices and innovations that support Antigua and Barbuda’s environmental goals.

The Department of Environment extends appreciation to all participating schools, partners, and volunteers who contributed to another successful Arbor Day celebration, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to environmental stewardship and climate resilience.
