Antigua and Barbuda’s Jamoy Morrison, an attorney-at-law, has been called to the bar in Barbados where he now resides and where he has been invited to be part of a law firm in the Caribbean territory.
Jamoy is originally from Pigotts village and made his name as a young and gifted organist within the Antigua Conference of the Moravian Church. He was also the musical arranger for the Moravian Mass Choir.
Despite being raised by a single parent, the late Jackie Freeland-Morrison, Jamoy was able through the support and love of his family and his own dedication and perseverance, to emerge today as one of Barbados’ newest attorneys, being called to the Barbados Bar last week.
Jamoy earned his LL.B. in 2020, finished law school in 2022, and spent a year thereafter completing postgraduate studies in international economic law and policy in Bern, Switzerland. He returned to the Caribbean in 2023 and eventually settled in Barbados.
He was among group of four applicants participating in the private ceremony held at the Barbados Supreme Court, before the Chief Justice.
Jamoy’s interest lies in tax law. His master’s thesis explored the relationship between expropriation and taxation in international investment law.
Jamoy is the nephew of the late pan maestro, Vincent Freeland and related to the Freeland Family of Potters.
Congratulations to you Mr. Morrison, I knew your mom she would have been very proud.
