Antigua Hosts UWI’s TAC Meeting

Wednesday 20th February, 2019-Antigua and Barbuda will host  a three-day meeting of the Technical Advisory Committees of the University of the West Indies.

A preliminary meeting is being held this evening at Sandals Grande Antigua Resort and Spa and an opening ceremony will be held on Thursday morning, before the working sessions are convened.

The meeting of the UWI Technical Advisory Committees (TACs) brings together government officials from the university’s contributing countries, as well as representatives from the University of the West Indies and other stakeholders.

The budgets for the three main campuses and the proposed fourth landed campus in Antigua will be reviewed as well as those of the University Centre and the University Hospital of the West Indies.


Prime Minister Gaston Browne is expected to address the opening ceremony of the TAC meeting.

During his 2019 Budget presentation, Prime Minister Gaston Browne spoke on the fourth option now available to applicants under the Citizenship by Investment Programme (CIP).Through the University of the West Indies Fund, government is anticipating it will partially fund the fourth landed campus of UWI.

The government is aiming for a 2019 opening date of UWI’s newest campus.
