The Antigua and Barbuda Trades and Labour Union (AT&LU) is among at least three local trade unions that will be attending the upcoming 22nd Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC) of the Caribbean Congress of Labour, scheduled to take place from December 2 – 5, 2025, in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
Delegates representing the AT&LU are; President Bernard de Nully, 1st Vice President Lisa-Ann Yearwood, and Executive Member Jaquis Browne.
The event themed “One Caribbean, One Voice: Advancing Workers’ Rights through Governance and Solidarity”, will focus on critical issues affecting workers across the region, including labour migration, capacity enhancement, and fostering collaboration among unions.
Sessions will be led by esteemed organizations such as the International Labour Organization (ILO), which will encourage meaningful dialogue on market resilience and related labour concerns.
President Bernard de Nully emphasized the significance of the conference, stating, “Our presence at this event underscores our commitment to advocate for workers’ rights not only in Antigua and Barbuda but throughout the Caribbean. It is crucial that we come together as a region to address our challenges and strengthen our unity.”
The AT&LU is eager to engage with fellow delegates to share insights and strategies aimed at promoting solidarity among workers. The union seeks to represent the interests of its members actively while contributing to discussions that will shape policies impacting the workforce across the Caribbean.
In addition to the AT&LU, the Antigua and Barbuda Public Service Association will be represented by its General Secretary, Janela Evanson, while the Antigua and Barbuda Workers Union will also be sending three delegates. The ABWU delegates have not been identified at the time of going to press.
