The Antigua and Barbuda Bureau of Standards (ABBS) will participate in the
annual celebration of World Metrology Day – 20 th May 2023, under the theme
“Measurements supporting the global food systems”. This year’s celebrations
will consist of a week of media activities commencing with social media posts on
Saturday 20 th May 2023. The activities will culminate with an internal interactive
session for ABBS staff awareness on Friday 26 th , 2023.
A special feature of the celebrations around the theme is based on an interview
with Executive Chef of the National School Meals Programme – Chef Colleen
Simpson. Additionally, we will be commencing public awareness activities to
promote the International System of Units (SI), commonly called the ‘Metric
System’, which is the foundation for the measurement systems that support
international metrology standards, procedures, and practices.
The ABBS invites everyone to ‘Like’ and ‘Follow’ our various social media
platforms for the roll out of videos, important facts, and public information for
World Metrology Day 2023, and the promotion of the ‘SI’ as Antigua and
Barbuda’s legal system of units. Look for us at the following profile names on:
