Foreign Affairs Minister E.P. Chet Greene has concluded a visit to the Kingdom of
Cambodia in Southern Asia, following which both governments have agreed to
take positive steps to deepen their relationship.
Reports from Phnom Penh, the Cambodian capital said Minister Greene and his
party, which included Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
Ambassador Anthony Liverpool, were hosted by Cambodia’s Deputy Prime
Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chenda Sophea.
“Despite the geographical distance, the two foreign ministers affirmed their
unwavering commitment to further activating the two countries functional
cooperation for the common benefit of their respective peoples,” a communique
issued after the visit stated.
The discussions then explored certain potential trading commodities, particularly
rice and cashew nuts, as well as collaboration in tourism and agriculture,
demonstrating the Kingdom’s commitment to advancing economic exchange.
Minister Greene was said to have been impressed by Cambodia’s economic
growth, and he encouraged the Kingdom to consider Antigua and Barbuda as a
gateway into the Caribbean market, according to the release.
The Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister also accepted an invitation to visit Antigua
and Barbuda at a time mutually agreed to by both parties.
