Registered voters in the island constituency of Barbuda are voting in Council Elections next week Wednesday and with just days to go the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission is making every effort to ensure that everyone who wants to vote will have the opportunity to do so.
With the final weekend before the elections, ABEC is opening the registration centre in Codrington to accommodate those voters who need to apply for updated Voter ID Cards, or for those who have already applied, to collect their cards, as this is necessary for them to participate in the elections.
“Once again, we wish to inform Barbudans who are yet to apply for replacement Voter ID Cards, to do so as soon as possible. For those who have already applied for replacement cards, the registration unit will open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm daily Mondays to Fridays and 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on the weekend until the elections. I wish to encourage all those concerned to utilize the extra time collect their replacement cards or to apply for replacement cards. This as the preparations for the Council Elections 2025 move into high gear,” ABEC spokesman, Elisa Graham announced.
Meanwhile, ABEC has been mounting training sessions for those individuals who have applied to be Election Day Workers. Those sessions started on Thursday and are being held at the Holy Trinity School in Codrington.
