The Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) is undertaking an
educational programme designed to inform registered voters of the process
required for replacing expired voter ID cards.
ABEC has released a flyer printed in both English and in Spanish explaining the
steps needed for voters to apply for and to collect their new ID cards when they are
issued.
The process of replacing invalid voter ID cards starts on August 12 in all seventeen
constituencies. The constituency offices will open at 8:30 am to 6:00 pm from
Mondays to Fridays.
Persons wishing to replace expired voter ID cards must present themselves in
person to the constituency offices with two government issued ID’s, the expired
cards, proof of address as well as documents updating marital status.
ABEC is advising applicants that the process may require them to update their
personal information into their system. These include updated photo, signature and
validated with a fingerprint.
Neither ABEC nor the government sources have indicated for how long the
replacement card process will run.
