Tuesday 27th March, 2018 – Nathaniel ‘Paddy’ James is satisfied that there were no major issues in the lead up to and on Election Day last Wednesday.
He says from all indications, things went well and ABEC awaits the reports from the organizations that sent observers to oversee the process.
James stated that transporting Barbudans to the mainland to cast their votes proved challenging in the first instance, but was quickly resolved with the assistance of NODS.
He added that the 2018 voting record is consistent with that of previous elections.
The United Progressive Party’s Harold Lovell is questioning ABEC’s figure of the number of votes that were cast for the party. While the Electoral Commission places it at 14,440, Lovell says it may be more based on their figures.
The ABEC Chair was asked to respond on Tuesday.
