A St. Vincent and the Grenadines national who entered into the country illegally and was deported is being held by the Immigration Department awaiting deportation after entering the country illegally for a second time.
38-year old Kemanie Curtis Spencer appeared before Senior magistrate Ngaio Emanuel on Wednesday on charges brought by the Chief Immigration Officer.
These include; departing from a vessel without the consent of the Chief Immigration Officer; and 2, having been legally deported from the state, did enter the state of Antigua and Barbuda without permission in writing, from the Chief Immigration Officer.
He has been ordered to be deported by the court which is to be carried out on Thursday. He is being held at the Immigration Detention Centre until the deportation order is fulfilled.
Meanwhile, Akeem Brookes of Grays Farm who was charged with the possession of an unlicenced firearm and ammunition pleaded guilty in the magistrate’s court on Wednesday. The court heard that on Sunday March 30 at 1:30 am, a police tactical team was patrolling in the Grays Farm area when they came upon a group of men near the Hoppers Playing Field who were acting suspiciously.
A search of the men was carried out and Brookes was found to have in his possession a .32 Walter pistol and seven rounds of ammunition.
Following his guilty plea, Brookes is due back in court on Thursday for sentencing.
