PDVCAB, Antigua and Barbuda is marking its 20th anniversary with a week of activities celebrating its achievements over the past two decades.
The activities started last Saturday night with a gala dinner and appreciation ceremony held at Casa Palmadita hosted by management and staff of PDVCAB.
In attendance were Governor General, Sir Rodney Williams, Utilities Minister, Melford Nicholas, Chaor of the Board, Donna Chaia, staff and invited guests that included many of the entities which cooperate with PDVCAB in carryng out its mandate.
On Sunday, the management and staff worshipped at the Ebenezer Methodist Church, where Rev. Dr. Cuthbert Edwards delivered the Word on grace. Projects Officer, Kishma Tonge presented the New Testament reading and General Manager Jellette Ralph gave a few remarks.
Today, the PDVCAB team will make the media rounds with interviews on the various media outlets. On Tuesday, they will visit the Soup Kitchen; on Wednesday its Customer Appreciation Day an on Friday, the team will visit Barbuda.
The most popular programme funded by PVDCAB is the utility subsidy programme which benefits over five thousand persons monthly.
Since its incorporation in September 2005, PDVCAB has invested in infrastructural development and launched several social programmes. Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium for the Cricket World Cup, relief efforts post Hurricane Omar, Small Scale enterprise development project at the GARD Center (construction of solar fruit and vegetables dryers accompanied by entrepreneurial training), construction of a permanent home for the National Tennis Centre at Campsite, Enterprise Achievement Challenge (a basic skills transfer and development programme for non or low-skilled unemployed youths), the purchase and installation of 1,500 street lights nationwide, distribution of 50,000 LED lights, upgrade of the Codrington Airport in Barbuda, funding of the transportation cost of the LPG from Antigua to Barbuda, coordinated and commissioned the reverse osmosis plant at Ffyres Beach, and launched the Youth In Agriculture Empowerment Project.
