The Antigua Trades and Labour Union, the country’s oldest industrial trade union, has announced another scholarship programme in collaboration with the University of the West Indies Global Campus in Antigua and Barbuda.
President of the AT&LU Bernard De Nully said four scholarships are being offered to individuals who have been members of the union for at least two years and have the necessary qualifications required by the university.
“The AT&LU remains steadfast and true to our mission of empowering our membership through educational opportunities. Consequently, the union is pleased to offer four scholarships for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) courses at the UWI Global Campus here in Antigua and Barbuda,” De Nully stated.
The period for submission of application is from August 18 to September 12 with the drawing to select the successful candidates being conducted in a live television event on September 16.
Some of the subject areas for the courses being offered include; Introduction to Sales and Marketing Management, Introduction to Financial Accounting, Introduction to Human Resources Management and Introduction to Early Childhood Education.
It is the third scholarship offerings for the year from the AT&LU.
Meanwhile, over the past week, officials of the AT&LU have been holding discussions with employees at several work places. These include security officers at the Ministry of Works, along with workers at APUA and the National Solid Waste Management Authority.
