The Antigua and Barbuda Cycling Federation (ABCF) has announced that national junior cyclist Tahjae Browne has officially signed a contract with the internationally recognized European Zappi Junior Cycling Team.
The organisation runs the Italy-based Zappi Under-23 Cycling Academy and the United Kingdom (UK)-based Zappi Junior Race Team. Zappi also fosters close development links with the Italian Continental Team, Ride For Peace.
The Zappi Junior Team has been racing all over Europe and the United Kingdom since 2015. Its cyclists have competed in and won some of the biggest races in Europe and played a major part in launching the careers of several British professional riders.
After spending several days with the team, Browne impressed coaches with his determination, discipline, and potential, securing his place on one of Europe’s leading junior development squads.
His signing is a landmark moment for Antiguan cycling, representing the growing talent emerging from the shores of the twin-island state onto the global stage.
“Good news! After a couple of days with the team, I’m pleased to inform you that I’ve signed a contract with the Zappi Junior Cycling Team. I will also be present at the upcoming Caribbean Championships. There’s a race this Saturday, so qualifications begin tomorrow,” Browne said.
Browne’s journey has been shaped by years of committed training and support. Since 2020, he has been a member of the Wadadli Cycling Academy (WCA), under the mentorship of his manager and coach, St. Clair Williams.
Coach Williams, who is also the president of both the ABCF and WCA, has been instrumental in guiding Browne’s cycling career, nurturing his talent and creating opportunities for him to grow, compete, and now take this next major step in the sport.
The Antigua and Barbuda Cycling Federation applauds Browne’s achievement and commends the unwavering dedication of the Wadadli Cycling Academy in shaping the next generation of athletes.
A release from the ABCF states, “We are confident that Tahjae will continue to shine as he represents Antigua and Barbuda at the Caribbean Championships and beyond. We wish him every success in his upcoming races and in this exciting new chapter with the Zappi Junior Cycling Team.”
