Mary Lewis also known as Vida Lewis was born in the village of Bolans, Antigua on June 18, 1925 to the parents of Sarah Simon and Richard Slaven. She is the first of three children. She grew up in the village of Bolans. She attended the Cedar Hall Moravian Church located in Jennings.
Mary/Vida attended the Bolans and the Jennings School. She was married to Robert Lewis until he passed in 1992. She had 7 children, four boys and three girls. She was a house wife and an agriculturist. She did her best to juggle taking care of her children while taking care of other household chores.
Like many Antiguans before and after her, in 1989 Mary/Vida migrated to the USA, where she still lives today.
“We stand firm with a firm foundation that she was pioneered through hardships, determination and faith.
“We pray God’s favour and mercy upon her as we continue to cherish her while we have a chance,” a member of her family stated.
