The defending champions, Rangpur Riders, have confirmed a powerful 16-man squad for the 2025 ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League (GSL), which will be staged at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence from July 10 to 18.
In the 2024 edition, the Riders made a dramatic turnaround after a rough start—losing their first three matches without registering a point—before storming back to win their last three games and ultimately lift the trophy.
With a combination of explosive batting, disciplined bowling, and composed leadership, they cemented themselves as worthy champions in the GSL’s thrilling inaugural season.
A powerhouse franchise in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the Rangpur Riders boast a history of success, including their 2017 BPL title.
Known for consistency, the Riders have reached the playoffs in each of the last three BPL seasons and now return to Guyana looking to defend their GSL crown.
They will once again be led by the inspirational Nurul Hasan Sohan, with returning match-winners like Soumya Sarkar—who topped the run charts last season—and leading pacer Kamrul Islam Rabbi anchoring the core.
The squad features a balanced mix of experience and youth, including Bangladesh internationals Mohammed Naim Sheikh, Mahidul Islam Ankon, Mohammed Saif Hassan, Abu Haider Rony, Rakibul Hasan, and Yasir Ali Chowdhury.
Strengthening their overseas lineup, the Riders have secured the services of West Indian batting powerhouse Kyle Mayers, South African wrist-spinner Tabraiz Shamsi, Pakistani all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed, and top-order Afghan batter Ibrahim Zadran.
The squad is rounded out by promising talents Akif Javed, Harmeet Singh, and Khawaja Nafay.
