Antigua Cruise Port (ACP) has announced the completion of a significant milestone of its Upland Development on Lower Newgate Street; the sinking of 377 piles marking the end of that phase of the development.

In a press statement, ACP said completing the piling works now sets the stage for the next critical phase of construction.

“This milestone paves the way for the commencement of pile capping, a key component of the foundation works that will support the new cruise terminal, commercial complex, signature restaurant, and upgraded transportation infrastructure,” the statement said.

Project Manager Ulises Torres and ACP General Manager Gasper George were both on-site to commemorate the occasion. Their presence underscored the continued dedication of the entire project team and the importance of maintaining momentum toward timely completion.

“This milestone is a testament to our commitment to excellence in construction and our long-term vision for the future of this facility,” said Torres. “As we enter the foundation phase, we’re confident in the strength of the partnerships and planning that have brought us to this point.”

“The completion of the piling works marks solid progress on a development that will bring long-term value to Antigua and Barbuda,” said Gasper George, General Manager of Antigua Cruise Port. “This project is about creating a functional, modern, and welcoming space that supports cruise operations, enhances the visitor experience, and provides real opportunities for local businesses and the wider community. We remain focused on delivering each phase with precision and purpose.”

The upland development is poised to significantly enhance the cruise and visitor experience in Antigua. Once completed, the site will feature a state-of-the-art terminal facility, an expanded retail experience, and new lifestyle and leisure amenities, benefiting both the local community and international visitors.

As the project advances, the team remains focused on delivering a modern, efficient, and welcoming port environment aligned with the strategic growth of Antigua and Barbuda’s cruise tourism and the general tourism sector.
