Newly crowned champions, the City South Municipal Foundation Inc., Townhouse Furnishings, CIU, and MKUU Tours Chargers Eagles 1, completed their title-winning campaign in the women’s division of the Antigua and Barbuda Amateur Volleyball Association’s (ABAVA) Second Division Development League with a perfect winning record on Tuesday.

Chargers Eagles 1 capped their title-clinching performance by soaring to a 2-0 victory against Chargers Eagles 2 in their final encounter at the indoor stadium at the YMCA Sports Complex.

Chargers Eagles took 55 minutes to prevail 25-14, 25-14 against Chargers Eagles 2 to end their campaign with a perfect eighth win from as many games.

Chargers Eagles 2, who have two games left to play, remain in fourth place of the nine-team round-robin league after suffering their third loss in six encounters.

However, the women’s Division 2 league encounter between the Royal Cruisers 2 and last year’s champions Paragons 2 was not played after both teams failed to show up for the match.

Both teams have been penalized by the ABAVA, which has ruled that they have forfeited the game.

It means Royal Cruisers 2 remain second from the bottom of the standings after suffering their sixth loss in seven encounters.

Paragons 2 remain in sixth place after suffering their fifth loss in seven matches.
