27-year-old Akini Walker of Cassada Gardens is due to appear in court today (Wednesday) to answer a charge for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The police have reported that around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 1, a team of police officers executed a search warrant at the residence of the accused. During the operation, officers discovered one (1) FN rifle and eighteen (18) rounds of 7.62 calibre ammunition. The firearm and ammunition were seized, and Walker was arrested at the scene and taken into police custody.

He has since been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition with a court date set for Wednesday.

The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda remains committed to removing illegal firearms from the streets and ensuring the continued safety and security of all citizens.
