Old Runway resident, Ed Archibald, who pleaded guilty to charges of possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition, is going back to court on Tuesday when he will be sentenced for the crime.
Archibald was intercepted on Saturday by a police unit that was patrolling the St. John’s area. The officers found Archibald armed with a Ruger .380 handgun along with six rounds of matching ammunition.
When he appeared in District B of the Magistrate’s Court on Monday, Archibald decided to pled guilty to the charges. He had earlier told the police that he was in possession of the firearm and ammunition because he was on his way to the police station to surrender them as part of the just announced government gun amnesty.
