The Antigua and Barbuda Bureau of Standards (ABBS) hosted an engaging and thought-provoking workshop on Civics and National Responsibility, led the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Trade, Ambassador Clarence E. Pilgrim. The session was held as part of the Bureau’s ongoing commitment to strengthening civic awareness and pride among its staff.
The interactive workshop focused on fostering a deeper understanding of civic responsibility, national service, and the role of public servants in nation-building. Ambassador Pilgrim commended ABBS employees for their efforts in maintaining high standards of civic pride and professionalism. He emphasized the importance of government workers being role models of integrity, efficiency, and national duty.
“Public servants must lead by example,” Ambassador Pilgrim stated. “Civic pride begins with us through our actions, our service, and our commitment to excellence.”
Participants were actively engaged in discussions on how civic pride could be further cultivated within the organization. They also explored how emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), can be harnessed to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
Ambassador Pilgrim concluded his presentation with a message of encouragement, urging employees to remain committed to doing good and to never grow weary in their duties to the nation.
The Acting Director of the ABBS, Solange Baptiste, delivered closing remarks, thanking Ambassador Pilgrim for his impactful presentation. She noted that the session was highly informative and inspiring, and reaffirmed the Bureau’s dedication to fostering a culture of civic responsibility and innovation.
