As Antigua and Barbuda prepares to host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) next year, planning for the event is beginning to take shape with the visit of a high-level team from the Commonwealth Secretariat to St. John’s this week.
Several meetings have been planned over the next few days with the committees responsible for planning of the several events that are associated with CHOGM.
These include the planning for a women’s forum, a youth forum and people’s forum. Additionally, the team will also pay a site visit to the conference room at the American University of Antigua, the main site for the meeting.
The team will also visit the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus to speak with Principal, Prof. C Justin Robinson and his team regarding their involvement in the CHOGM.
Other issues of concern for the visiting team will include security as it is expected to many of the 56 heads of state of the Commonwealth will be visiting Antigua and Barbuda during the period, including King Charles, the head of the Commonwealth.
