A couple who recently visited the twin-island tourist destination is showering a police constable in the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda with much praise for his exemplary work.
The visitors, who were vacationing on the island, experienced the unfortunate incident of having their iPhone-15 stolen from them.
A complaint was filed at the Criminal Investigations Department, and Constable Cedric Nelson who was on duty carried out investigations into the matter.
The accused was later arrested and charged and taken before the court, where he pleaded guilty and was fined $500 forthwith.
In a letter to the Commissioner of Police, Constable Nelson was praised for his exemplary performance and dedication to duty. It says, “His exemplary performance and commitment to duty truly went above and beyond what one might typically expect. From the moment the matter was reported, Constable Nelson demonstrated remarkable skills. He kept us informed throughout the entire process, providing timely updates which alleviated most of our concerns.”
They said what was most impressive, is his relentless determination to track the device. “He utilized various resources and methods to gather information, and he was consistent and thorough. We were particularly impressed by his willingness to engage communities and leverage connections to locate our phone.” They further commented, “His professionalism, integrity, and tenacity are commendable traits and invaluable assets to his department.”
Acting Commissioner of Police, Everton Jeffers expressed pride in Constable Nelson’s commitment, noting that his actions reinforce the trust and confidence the public places in the Police.
