The ambassador of the Dominican Republic to Antigua and Barbuda, Raquel Jacobo, is leaving her post this week to take up a new posting in Trinidad and Tobago.
Ambassador Jacobo paid a farewell visit to Prime Minister Gaston Browne on Thursday and she also used the opportunity to say farewell to the staff in the Office of the Prime Minister, including Ambassador Lionel Max Hurst and the Prime Minister’s Executive Assistant, Lynette Thwaites.
“I leave with the satisfaction of having opened our diplomatic mission, initiated bilateral relations, contributed to the pending school project, and laid the groundwork for aviation and cooperation agreements with the Ministry of Tourism. The governmental relations we have built have been excellent.
“This beautiful country has given me the opportunity to grow professionally and, on a spiritual level, to reconnect with the true essence of life—simplicity, meaningful communication, and strong relationships. The bond established with the government has been outstanding, and I am convinced it will only continue to flourish,” she told Point Express newspaper.
She added that she is leaving ‘with a heavy heart’, yet filled with happiness for this wonderful opportunity and the great relationships she has built.
“I firmly believe that the years ahead will be glorious for my beloved Antigua and Barbuda,” she noted.
