Republic of Latvia representative makes inaugural visit to St. John’s

Antigua and Barbuda and the Republic of Latvia have committed deepen the
diplomatic relations that have been flourishing since March 1993 between both
countries.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Anthony
Liverpool, met with Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
the Republic of Latvia, Dace Melbärde. This meeting underscored a mutual
commitment to enhancing collaboration and exploring new avenues for
cooperation between the two nations.
During the discussion, both parties expressed enthusiasm for strengthening ties in
areas such as sustainable development and economic cooperation. Ambassador
Liverpool highlighted the significance of such partnerships, especially for small
island developing states, in facing global challenges like climate change and
economic resilience.
Parliamentary Secretary Melbärde reiterated Latvia's support for small island
states, emphasizing Latvia’s readiness to share its technological advancements and
sustainable practices. The meeting concluded with a pledge from both nations to
pursue concrete initiatives that will benefit their respective countries and support
broader global sustainability goals.
This meeting not only celebrates over three decades of friendly relations between
Antigua and Barbuda and Latvia but also sets a forward-looking agenda for
meaningful collaborations at the international level.
