The National Archives of Antigua and Barbuda wishes to inform that only the following services
are presently being offered to the public:
1. Land Registry Searches
2. Legal Research
3. Baptismal Records (Request should be made through the Church)
All other services have been suspended, until further notice.
Additionally, opening hours to public accessing the above-mentioned services will be as follows:
Tuesdays: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon
Thursdays: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon
Requests for baptismal records, however, must be made directly by the Church at the following
email address: nationalarchives@ab.gov.ag. Walk-in requests cannot be accommodated at this
time.
The National Archives will be closed to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
The National Archives further encourages visitors to be properly attired when visiting. Please
avoid wearing very short or revealing clothing. Shorts or tights are not to be worn.

My name is Jerry James, and I am researching my family history in Antigua and Barbuda. I am hoping that you may be able to assist me in locating several records relating to my parents and maternal grandfather.
I am particularly interested in the following individuals:
1. Frances Rosetta Smith
– Date of birth: March 21, 1928
– Place: Antigua, possibly the St. Mary’s Parish/Bolans/Roses area
– Father: David Smith
– I am particularly interested in locating her birth registration and any related church/baptismal record.
2. Jeremiah James
– Date of birth: March 1923
– Place: Antigua
– I would like to locate his birth registration and, if available, his baptismal/church record.
3. Jeremiah James and Frances Rosetta Smith
– Believed to have married around 1953
– Possibly in the Bolans/St. Mary’s Parish area
– I would like to locate their civil marriage registration and, if possible, the corresponding Anglican marriage record.
– Our Lady of the Valley Anglican Church in the Bolans/Valley Church area may have been associated with their marriage or family.
4. David Smith
– Father of Frances Rosetta Smith
– Believed to have lived and worked in the Roses/Bolans area
– Family information indicates that he worked as a plantation overseer.
– I would like to learn more about his parents, marriage/family, occupation, residence, and any plantations or estates with which he was associated.
I understand that some of these records may not yet be fully indexed or available online. If the records are held in registers that require an archival search, I would greatly appreciate knowing the appropriate register, reference number, or procedure for obtaining copies.
I would also be very interested in any relevant Anglican parish records, particularly baptism, marriage, burial, or vestry records connected with Our Lady of the Valley Anglican Church and the Bolans/Roses area.
If there are fees for research, photocopies, scans, or certified copies, please let me know before proceeding.
I would be very grateful for any assistance you can provide. These records are important to me because I am trying to document my family’s history in Antigua and establish the identities and family connections of earlier generations.
