The name Christal Clashing will always be linked to the historic Team Antigua
Island Girls quartet that rowed across the Atlantic Ocean in the world’s toughest
row race, but Clashing is hoping to put Antigua and Barbuda on the map once
again, this time in freediving.
But she needs the help of the public to do so.
“My goal is to become the first female freediver in Antigua and Barbuda to set a
national record. I hope to do so at the Deep Dominica freediving competition to
be held 28th July – 4th August 2024, and I need your help to turn this vision into
a reality,” Clashing posted on her fundraising page

The 34-year-old will have to train in Dominica for the entire month of July and
is seeking the assistance of the public in covering those expenses.
“By supporting me today, you are investing into something bigger than just a
fundraiser. You're changing the waterscape for Caribbean athletes like me. I
know from my experience as Antigua and Barbuda’s first female Olympic
swimmer and being part of the first all-black team to row an ocean, the impact
of being a pioneer in aquatic spaces. It lets others in the region see what’s
possible and provide a benchmark to beat,” she added.
The goal is $7000. Thus far just over $2000 has been donated.
