Nine contestants have been named for the 2024 edition of the annual Labour
Queen Pageant, staged jointly by the Antigua Trades and Labour Union and the
Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party.
The contestants emerged from an audition held on March 2 when a final selection
was made. The contestants who made it into the finals were all described as
‘outstanding’.
The contestants are currently undergoing an intense period of training with an
orientation on Tuesday this week followed by sessions on Thursday and one on
Saturday.
Head of the Organising Committee, Sharilyn James, said the training will take
place three times weekly up until the show tentatively scheduled for May 4. The
contestants will make their first public appearance when they are introduced to the
party’s executive on Friday evening.
The contestants are; Miss All Saints West, Aliyah Wayne, Miss St. Paul, Kenesha
James, Miss St. John’s Rural West, Eddenya Aska, Miss St. John’s Rural East,
Shermain Eustache, Miss St. John’s City West, Nevaeh Greene, Miss St. Paul,
Deneka Dublin, Miss St. John’s City South, Shanakay Mc Dnald, Miss St. George,
Nechel James and Miss St. John’s City West, Dominique Trotman.
The Labor Queen pageant is a feature of the annual Labour Week activities jointly
mounted by both institutions.
The committee is inviting members of the public to ‘like’ and ‘follow’ the Antigua
and Barbuda Labour Queen's page for regular updates on the young ladies' journey
towards capturing the crown.
