Five Antigua and Barbuda students were among the graduating class of students
who successfully completed their studies at one of the top medical schools in
Cuba.
In fact, according to Antigua and Barbuda Ambassador to Cuba, George Goodwin,
the institution – the University of Medical Sciences in Holguin, Cuba, singled out
the Antigua and Barbuda students as being ‘very discipled and who produced high
academic results’.

One of the five students – Dr. Phillescia Jean – graduated with honours and she
was the top foreign students in the graduating class.
The newly-minted medical doctors will return to Antigua and will undergo a year
long internship/orientation at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre before being able
to practice on their own.
The other doctors are; Dr. Lee-Ann Sandy, Dr. Doniece Thomas, Dr. Jason
Thwaites and Dr. Grace Edwards.
