The Water Optimization Technologies and  Applications (WOTA) initiative in
Antigua and Barbuda is making significant strides towards sustainable water
solutions.
In a recent meeting, WOTA representatives provided Minister of Health and the
Environment, Sir Molwyn Joseph, with updates on the ongoing pilot activities.
Key highlights of the progress include the successful completion of demonstrations
for the WOTA Box, conducted between December 7th and 10th, 2023, at
prominent locations such as the Department of Environment, YASCO, Pigeon
Point, and Fort James. The initiative has engaged in productive discussions with
CHAPA, National Housing, and APUA, demonstrating a commitment to
collaboration.
Additionally, the Minister urged the retrieval of data on the daily energy
consumption of the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center to evaluate the feasibility of
integrating a Renewable Energy system.
Looking ahead, the next steps in this groundbreaking project involve the
completion of the Project Proposal, financing by the Government of Japan,
approval in Q1 2024, and potential participation in a technology expo at the SIDS
2024 Conference.
WOTA remains committed to driving innovation in water technology, fostering
partnerships, and contributing to sustainable development in Antigua and Barbuda.
