The Antigua and Barbuda Investment Authority, (ABIA) has issued a call for all
small and medium size businesses operating in the country to register with its
offices.
In a media release, ABIA said the move is part of ongoing efforts to provide
improved dedicated service, support and resources to sole proprietors, small and
medium-sized businesses (MSMEs) in Antigua and Barbuda.
“The ABIA, as the country’s primary business support organization, is conscious
of the global external forces at play that continue to affect local and international
businesses alike.
“Therefore, in order to increase our support, working with regional and
international partners including the Organization of American States, (OAS), the
European Union (EU), Caribbean Development Bank, (CDB) and similar
organizations, a strategic objective in 2024, is to provide even more support to
local businesses,” the release stated.
It said the support the ABIA provides incudes: export opportunities, grants,
mentorship, business training, and financial assistance.
In order to provide that support, the ABIA says it needs the contact information of
the MSME’s in the country.
The ‘Call to Action’ is therefore a call for these businesses and their
owners/operators to provide the ABIA will all relevant information as it seeks to
develop its own database.
