The clean-up of bulk and other waste items in the St. John’s City West
constituency is continuing this week, after a successful start over the weekend.
Member of Parliament, Prime Minister Gaston Browne along with the St. John’s
City West Youth Group organized the campaign to improve the general appearance
and cleanliness of the community.
The clean-up started on Saturday in The Point, with PM Browne accompanied by
teams of individuals from the youth group along with several trucks from the Solid
Waste Management Authority collecting large amounts of bulk items. During the
campaign, the teams also cleaned drains and gutters that had become blocked by
debris, over time.

President of the youth group, Caleb Gardiner explained that residents were advised
to place their bulk waste at the front of their homes for collection on Saturday. This
generated many waste items such that the campaign concentrated on the Point on
Saturday.
The organizers have decided to continue the campaign today (Monday) and
tomorrow, as well as on Saturday, to complete those areas of The Point that were
not covered and to extend the cleanup to the Villa Area and other parts of the
constituency.
Gardiner is expressing his thanks and appreciation to the Prime Minister as well as
members of Team City West, along with the National Solid Waste Management
Authority for providing equipment and manpower to help with the campaign.
