Several moves have been made to ensure the smooth operations of the country’s
main port of entry, the VC Bird International Airport, following the resignation of
the Chief Executive Officer, Euleta Francis.
In a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Rolston Polly
Potter, Francis cited what she termed an attempt by Prime Minister Gaston Browne
to “assassinate my personal character and professional reputation, as well as to
bully me, as a public servant.”
This, she reported was done when the prime minister appeared on the weekly radio
programme, the Browne and Browne Show, last Saturday.
She relayed her side of the argument about an incident that transpired on Friday
when the prime minister called her on the telephone. Without, naming her
specifically, the prime minister said the senior official of a government entity had
raised her voice at him, and that he responded in kind.
He accused the individual of being disrespectful, especially in light of the fact that
it was made clear that others were listening to the conversation.
Having tendered her resignation, the government lost no time in moving quickly to
fill the vacancy her departure created. In a media posting, PM Browne stated that
he is aware of Francis’s resignation.
“The government and the Board, having examined her resignation and given due
consideration to her capacity to serve as the CEO of ABAA and to deliver the
services at the required standard, agreed to accept her resignation.”
“Mr. Avery Henry will act as the CEO in the interim and Mr. Rolston Polly Potter
will serve as Executive Chairman of ABBA effective immediately,” he stated.
