The Junior Chef Cook-off competition among the nation’s secondary and tertiary
schools has now completed the preliminary rounds with two more schools joining
the winners’ circle.
Following Monday’s second day of competition, held at the GARD Centre near
Pares Village, the Antigua State College emerged winners of the 3rd round held in
the morning, while the St. Joseph’s Academy won the fourth round held in the
afternoon.

Both schools will join the other two finalists; the Sir McChesney George
Secondary of Barbuda and the Seventh Day Adventist School, in the finals of the
Cook-off competition slated for December 4, 2023, at the Antigua and Barbuda
Hospitality Training Institute.
The winning school will receive EC$10,000 to enhance its Home Economics
facilities, and the winning student will have the opportunity to represent Team
Antigua and Barbuda at the prestigious Taste of Caribbean event in 2024 in Miami.
The schools competed in the preparation of the popular national dish, Pepper-pot.
They were judged on taste, preparation, presentation, and creativity.
The competition is a joint project of the Antigua and Barbuda Hotels and Tourism
Association and the Ministry of Tourism,
