Now that work on the much-anticipated Booby Alley Housing project is about to
start, there are plans to convene a town hall meeting with the residents of the area
to discuss with them the preliminary drawings and other matters associated with
the project.
That is the word from area representative, Prime Minister Gaston Browne who
disclosed that the preliminary drawings have been submitted by the Chinese
engineers.
According to PM Browne the Chinese government which will finance the project
through a grant, has submitted drawings for condominium-styled buildings for the
project and it is at a stage where input from the people who will occupy the
buildings should offer some feedback on what is being planned.
“One final thing is to consult with residents, finding them and bringing them
together because I need to arrange a town hall meeting to go through the entire
concept with them,” he explained.
He further explained that approval to proceed has been given by the committee
overseeing the project. The proposals were submitted to the team one week after
the removal of the final property. “The Chinese will be on the ground within a
matter of weeks, in terms of finalizing the design, and I am hoping to have at least
one public consultation to get input from the residents,” he stated.
