On behalf of the Board of Directors, leadership, and staff of the Central Board of
Health, I wish to take the opportunity to thank the former Chief Medical Officer of
the Ministry of Health, Social Transformation, the Environment and Wellness, Dr.
Rhonda Sealey-Thomas for her leadership and contributions to the development,
expansion, and improvement to the Nation’s healthcare system. Dr. Sealey-
Thomas’s career defines what the Monarch, (King Short Shirt) Dr. McClean
Emanuel calls “A Good, Good citizen. We are better because of what she did, and
how she served. Future generations will owe her a great debt of gratitude for
putting us in a much better place than when she first arrived.
Dr. Sealey-Thomas’s retirement comes as a great loss to the Ministry of Health and
this new Board, as we set to make our contribution to the Public Health System.
We trust her work ethic, call to duty and selfless service given over these many
years would have a profound impact on all we do and on her successor.
We also take this opportunity to congratulate Dr. Sealey-Thomas on her
appointment to the post of Assistant Director of PAHO’s Sanitary Bureau. This
comes as no surprise since she is undoubtedly, the best fit for the job. The Public
Health Board looks forward to the many opportunities for interactions, advocacy,
and advice that Dr. Sealey Thomas will bring to the job and by extension her
continued representation of Antigua and Barbuda.
Again, on behalf of the Minister of Health, Board of Directors, and leadership of
the Central Board of Health, I wish Dr. Sealey-Thomas nothing but the very best
and God’s speed.
