It has become one of the most popular shows in the Antigua Carnival programme,
attracting thousands of patrons to see performances from top regional entertainers
with a bevy of local artists…it’s the Caribbean Melting Pot taking place at
Carnival City tonight.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Bunji Garlin is the headline act for tonight’s show. With
hits such as ‘We Ready for the Road’ and ‘Big Truck’ the international soca artist
is expected to be a crowd-pleaser.
He will be supported by top local artists such as the Burning Flames, the band that
rewrote the book on popular Antiguan and Barbudan music. The ‘Fabulous Four’
were honoured this year, when they were presented with the keys to Carnival City
after serving as Grand Marshalls for the Opening Parade.
Other artists will include the popular, Tian Wynter and Claudette Peters among
others.
Meanwhile, Minister of Creative Industries, Daryll Matthew, who is responsible
for Carnival, is reporting on the excitement that Carnival 2023 has generated. All
shows have been well attended. Many revelers have participated in both the
opening of Carnival City and T-shirt Mas, and many more have participated in the
evening shows. Many more are expected to join for the Monday and Tuesday
Parades. From all indications, Carnival 2023 is proven to be a tremendous success.
The government has also applauded Ms. Antigua and Barbuda – Ischikelle Corbin,
for winning the Miss Jaycee’s Queen Show, demonstrating talent, elegance,
strength of character, dramatic skills, and beauty. She has been applauded for the
high standards she brought to the competition, winning all 5 segments and 2 which
were not judged.
