Justice Colin Williams on Monday sentenced Newfield resident, Kenworth
Charles, to 16 years in prison for the murder of Fitzroy Robins on 24 th July 2020.
Then 36-year-old, Charles, and the victim, who resided at All Saints, were
involved in an altercation at a bar on Bay Street, Villa at approximately 11:30 p.m.
on 24 th July 2020. The former hospital I.T. Technician armed himself with a knife
and inflicted several stab wounds to Fitzroy Robins’ upper body, causing him to
die at the scene of the incident.
During the trial, the court heard the two men had bad blood between them since
there was an incident months before. It stemmed from Charles refusing to pay for
beers he had taken from a cooler. Following an altercation, the two men went their
separate ways until 24 th July 2020, when another altercation ensued, which proved
fatal for Fitzroy Robins.
Kenworth Charles was put on trial, and in February, was found guilty of murder by
a mixed jury, despite his lawyer Wendel Robison’s argument that his client
accidentally killed Robins.
Three of the 16-year sentence were deducted, since the convicted man spent that
time on remand, leaving thirteen years that he must serve at His Majesty’s Prison.
