A public viewing of Sir Rupert ‘King Swallow’ Philo will be held today ahead of his official funeral next week. Sir Rupert passed away on September 11th at the age of 78. The late calypso legend’s body can be viewed at Barnes Funeral Home between 12pm and 2pm.
His funeral service will take place on Monday at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium at 10am. King Swallow made a name for himself as a prolific singer and songwriter nationally, regionally and internationally, with hits including ‘Party In Space’ and ‘Subway Jam’. He had been ailing for sometime before passing away last month. Tributes have poured in from calypso and soca artistes from around the world who worked with the legend or whose lives were influenced by his talent and contributions to the artforms of calypso and soca.
