New case of COVID-19 discovered

After several COVID-19 free days, the country has recorded one new case of the virus. This was announced by the Ministry of Health on Wednesday evening. “Reports received by the
Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment from the Mount St. John’s Medical Center (MSJMC) and the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) have revealed one new  laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 case in Antigua and Barbuda as of Tuesday 1st September
2020 at 6 pm,” a statement revealed. The health ministry explained that of thirty-one
samples sent to CARPHA recently, one returned positive, twenty-nine were negative and one was voided. The single positive case has a recent travel history. As of Wednesday 2nd
September 2020, the MSJMC has revealed no new laboratory – confirmed COVID-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda. Nonetheless, nine samples were sent to CARPHA on Wednesday. They are still pending. According to the Ministry of Health, “The total number of persons with laboratory – confirmed COVID-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda remains at ninety-five with one active case.”
