Wednesday 27th March, 2019-Work being carried out by APUA in the Road Rehabilitation Project has hit a snag after the utilities company discovered what appears to be an act of vandalism.
At 8:40 am yesterday, Tuesday March 26th, 2019, an APUA Electricity Crew discovered one of the cables used in the underground wiring on Friars Hill Road was severed.
The 2,000 ft. cable was extended from the commercial complex opposite Caribbean Cinemas through to the Public Cemetery and is valued at approximately US $12,000.00. At 9:08 am, a report was made to the police. Work on site was halted pending the arrival of law enforcement.
APUA’s Electricity Business Unit is now estimating a delay of one (1) week in the underground wiring process due to the severed cable.
The utilities company is issuing a warning to offenders to cease and desist from the committal of malicious acts to the property of the Authority and the Road Rehabilitation Project. APUA is also soliciting the assistance from the public in identifying the offenders and reporting any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
