Wednesday 20th March, 2019-A magazine chronicling the lives of Antiguan and Barbudan centenarians was launched on Tuesday at Government House.
The project was undertaken by the Community Development Division, within the Ministry of Social Transformation, Human Resource Development, Youth and Gender affairs.
The 65-page glossy magazine, ”Celebrate 100, Centenarians’ Magazine 2018” documents the likes and dislikes of the men and women who were able to live against the backdrop of life’s challenges and joys to attain 100 years and in some cases 100 plus years.
Speaking at Tuesday’s launch, Governor General Sir Rodney Williams highly commended those that are responsible for the publication, but he added the families and caregivers of the centenarians must also be acknowledged for their contributions.
Social Transformation Minister the Hon. Samantha Marshall expressed appreciation to the centenarians for their contributions to nation building, noting their life and work are worth documenting.
The design and layout were done by Vivian Michael.
Copies can be obtained from the Community Development Division within the Ministry of Social Transformation on the corner of Dickenson Bay and Popeshead streets for a donation of no less than $25.
