Friday 21st December, 2018-Employees of state-owned media ABS Radio and Television were further advised by their union today to remain off the job, as the impasse between workers and management drags on.
Employees took industrial action on Thursday over issues that remain unresolved, including the way they are treated by management. Outstanding overtime and an improved working environment are also among the matters that employees are seeking re-dress.
Minister of Information and Broadcasting the Hon. Melford Nicholas speaking on state media Thursday evening expressed surprise at the action taken by employees.
But Ralph Potter of the Antigua Trades and Labour Union has disagreed with the minister’s statement, noting he is fully aware of the issues.
The AT&LU representatives reported that no one from management or the ministry has reached out to him, so he has directed the staff that industrial action will continue.
