Thursday 29th November, 2018-St. Martin authorities are reporting they are yet to identify the two men whose bodies were found in a bay earlier this month.
According to the Daily Herald Newspaper of St. Maarten, parents and/or relatives have not showed up thus far to positively identify the bodies.
The two bodies washed ashore in the same area on November 13th and 14th in Baie Lucas, near Oyster Pond. A boat was also discovered drifting in the area according to reports.
Lt. Col. Sebastian Manzoni said “A police officer from Antigua has brought us a toothbrush, so now we are waiting to see if we get a DNA match.”
He added that “Confirmation of identities is taking a long time because the testing is done in France and because the parents and relatives of these men have not come to St. Martin so far to help identify the bodies.”
According to reports, the men are believed to be Pedro Potter and Ozandee Benjamin.
However, Lieutenant Manzoni said at no time were the identities of the two bodies confirmed to Antiguan police.
