Monday 19th November, 2018-The Minister responsible for National Festivals, the Hon. Daryl Matthew has spoken of a change in the system as it relates to how invoices are processed by the Festivals’ Commission.
Service providers over the years have been submitting their invoices for payments from the Festivals’ Commission who in turn ensures that cheques are written to honour their financial obligations. But that specific process appears to be ineffective, with scores of people who are owed demanding their monies.
Speaking on state television this morning, Minister Daryl Matthew explained that the responsibility the Festivals’ Office took on several years ago is not theirs to begin with. He said the correct procedure has now taken effect.
The minister has given the assurance that invoices are being processed and is apologizing to those who are being inconvenienced.
Minister Matthew is reminding those who the Festivals’ Commission is indebted to that their payments will be dependent on the availability of funds in the treasury.
